On Tuesday 14-year-old Anahat Singh was included in the Indian Squash squad for the upcoming Commonwealth Games at Birmingham.
Commonwealth Games are approaching and the Indian athletes are gearing up to display the best performances of their careers at the event.

Talking about India’s Squash squad, Saurav Ghoshal, Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Palikal who had been carrying the Indian flag for 15 years, and are likely to be the favourites, to bring medals back home.
Now the 14-year-old Anahat also has joined the squad. Anahat will be making her CWG debut at Birmingham.
Know who is 14-year-old Squash athlete Anahat Singh
Anahat Singh is from Delhi, at the age of 13 she became the first Indian to win the US Junior Open Squash Championship that took place at the Arlen Spectre Centre In Philadelphia on December 22, 2021. She defeated Jayda Marel of Egypt in the US Junior Open Squash Championship Final to become the world champion.
Her parents Tani, an interior designer, and her lawyer husband Gursharan Singh both played hockey at different levels in their youth.
Anahat’s elder sister Amira was the first to pick up the sport in school and mong India’s top under-19 players, Amira moved to Harvard University last year as part of its 2021-22 women’s squash roster while also pursuing her bachelor’s degree. Anahat’s early interest was in badminton, but she switched to squash when she was just eight. Her Instagram profile can be viewed here.
She has proven her talent all across Europe and Asia. She won two European superseries titles in 2019. In the same year, she also won a silver medal at the British Junior open and also a bronze medal at the Asian Juniors and a silver in Malaysian Junior Open back in 2018.
Before moving to the U-13 category she was ranked Asia’s No. 1 player in girls U-11 category. She maintained the No. 1 position for two years.
She is currently ranked No. 1 in India, Asia and Europe in the girl’s U-13 Squash Category. In the U-15 category, she is ranked No. 4 in the world. Recently she won U-15 tournament in Germany and the Asian title in the same category last month.
At a very young age, Anahat has become an inspiration for many. In her short career, Anahat has already won around 40 titles across all competition.
