The temperature at the stadium during Taylor Swift’s concert nearly hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Because of this, the 33-year-old singer had to pause her performance briefly to ensure that some of the enthusiastic audience members could get water.

Even though Rio and most of Brazil have experienced record-breaking temperatures this week due to a hazardous and long-lasting heat wave, local media outlets claimed that water bottles were not permitted inside the Nilton Santos Olympic stadium.

It’s believed that Ana Clara Benevides suffered a cardiac arrest when she fainted at the concert, according to her cousin Estela Benevides and the Brazilian newspaper Folha De Sao Paolo. Even though on-site doctors tried to help but they couldn’t revive her. Taylor Swift, expressing concern, was seen on social media asking stadium staff to provide water to the audience.

Taylor Swift later revealed that Ana Clara Benevides had passed away before the concert in a statement. It’s not clear if the woman Swift mentioned was part of the group. The incident occurred during a heat advisory in Rio de Janeiro.

On Friday, Rio de Janeiro had really hot weather, reaching 100°F. The discomfort from the extreme heat during the concert likely played a role in what concertgoers went through.

The mayor of the city has called for improvements before Swift’s final two performances after it was reported by the media that fans were not permitted to bring water inside the stadium despite the high temperatures.

After the concert, Taylor Swift went on Instagram to express her shock and sorrow about the tragic incident. She wrote, “It’s hard to believe I’m saying this, but with a heavy heart, I have to tell you we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show.”
