In 2022, Brown and his wife, Leanne, a Real Housewives of Cheshire star, separated. After more than two decades of dating, the couple married in 2009 and had three kids. Brown, who at one point made £50,000 per week and 2.6 million pounds annually during his 15-year tenure at Old Trafford, was shocked when he was declared bankrupt in 2023.
‘It was a tough ride,’ he told media.
He further added, ‘It’s something that is hard to deal with on your own at times. But luckily, I still do quite a lot of work and I’m able to carry on now moving forward. Today I’m one more day out of it.’

Wes Brown’s career
At the age of 12, Brown joined Manchester United’s academy in 1992 to start his career with the team. Following his 1996 professional debut, he made his senior debut in 1998 and established himself as a semi-regular member of the first squad during the club’s treble-winning 1998–1999 campaign.
Following an injury-related one-year break, Brown started playing regularly in the first team in 2000. He won other accolades over the following eight years, including another Champions League and four more Premier League crowns. Brown has been described as “without question the best natural defender this club has had for years” by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former defender courageously talked about his financial difficulties in November, which were caused by a string of unsuccessful real estate transactions.
