This comes after the Supreme Court declined to halt their release. The judge granted their release based on their age and good conduct in jail. Once a minister, Amarmani Tripathi was given a life sentence for the 2003 murder of his alleged lover, Madhumita Shukla.
However, victim Madhumita Shukla’s sister, Nidhi Shukla, expressed displeasure over the decision and documented her concerns in front of the court. Due to this, the Supreme Court simultaneously ordered the Uttar Pradesh government, Amarmani Tripathi, and his wife to answer within eight weeks.

He was born into a Hindu Brahmin family on 14 February 1956. He is married, and his wife’s name is Madhumani Tripathi. The couple were also the parents of Aman Mani Tripathi, who is also a politician from Nautanwa Vidhan Sabha Constituency and a criminal.

His career
From the Indian National Congress through the Bahujan Samaj Party to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Amarmani Tripathi’s political career saw transitions. In 2001, he served in Rajnath Singh’s BJP administration as the Minister of State for Institutional Finance until he was dismissed amid allegations of kidnapping.
In the Lakshmipur and Nautanwa Vidhan Sabha constituencies, he faced off against formidable opponents like Virendra Pratap Shahi and Akhilesh Singh, winning some elections and losing some. He had previously served as a state minister for the Samajwadi Party under Mulayam Singh Yadav’s government.
