Mission Majnu is based on a genuine tale; however, the film’s creators have not divulged the real identity or photo of the spy Sidharth Malhotra plays. Hence, the name Amandeep Ajitpal Singh is not real.
After India conducted nuclear tests at Pokhran in 1974, Pakistan secretly wanted to execute a nuclear test of its own to exert its power. Then R&AW chief K.N. Rao made a plan alongside Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to gather intelligence through espionage.
Rao trusts Amandeep to complete the task of gathering intelligence despite concerns from the department. This is because K.N. Kao believes that Amandeep will definitely do this to atone for his father’s faults in providing crucial information to Pakistan and then committing suicide out of humiliation.
He was also the best cadet in the academy. Amandeep is able to pose as a tailor and break into the home of an army officer, who informs Amandeep that the nuclear testing would take place close to Rawalpindi.
Is agent Amandeep Ajitpal Singh dead?
Unfortunately, if the movie’s story is to be believed, he is dead. He was killed and shot down by Pakistani forces. However, he is at least able to pass away knowing that his wife and unborn child are secure from the Pakistani army’s reach.
