Newcastle United signed Amadou Diallo outside the transfer window
Amadou Diallo spent his early years at West Ham for a decade, but he was without a club last summer. The 19-year-old who has a height of 5 feet 10 incheshad a trial with Chelsea, who are a renowned club when it comes to their academy. However, he soon received an invitation to train with the Toon for a two-week trial and never looked back since.
While explaining about his move, Diallo shared:
Newcastle needed a winger, they got in touch with my agent, and I came down for a two-week trial. I played one game, they liked what they saw and offered me a contract.
They just said to express myself, to play my normal game as I’d done well to get signed. Be positive with the ball, take my man on, get involved in goals. It’s similar to West Ham.”
Diallo further shared how Newcastle are a humble club where everyone works hard including the staff who are good with their players. Everyone is open to speak to everyone, it’s been good.
He also shared how he has been motivated to play better looking at what the first-team are doing, and is waiting for his opportunity.
Amadou Diallo impresses Eddie Howe
The youngster has seemingly impressed Eddie Howe while training with the first team and is hopeful of a start. Diallo has also sought to take the advice of a senior Toon star. He spoke about it saying:
It’s good to get involved, they’re obviously high up in the table so to train with that calibre of players is good to learn from. When I went there, the first thing I did was speak to Joelinton who helped me out through the whole session.”
So far, Diallo has made eight appearances for Newcastle’s Under-21s, and is still waiting for a first team start. He is still yet to score his first goal.
