Aliana Rutherford  is married to Sherfane Eviston Rutherford who is a Guyanese cricketer. In December 2018, he made his debut for the West Indies on the international scene against England.

His T20I debut came against Bangladesh on December 22, 2018. The cricketer made his debut in the 2016–17 Regional Four-Day Competition for Guyana on April 15, 2017.

Guyana’s first game in the 2017–18 Regional Super50 on January 31, 2018 marked his List A debut. On August 9, 2018, he made his Twenty20 debut in the Caribbean Premier League with the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Rutherford took the place of Jonny Bairstow in the Sunrisers Hyderabad starting XI for the Indian Premier League second leg on September 11, 2021. 

The Royal Challengers Bangalore purchased him at the 2022 Indian Premier League auction in February of that year. In July 2022, he sealed a deal to play in the third Lanka Premier League season with the Galle Gladiators.
