With 332 out of 360 marks, age 18 Rajit Gupta was able to top the test. According to sources, Rajit scored 100 percentile for both the first and second sessions of JEE Main. In order to reduce excessive pressure, Rajit Gupta said in an interview that he did not follow a strict preparation plan.
“So, I used to read only when I felt like it, but whatever time I used to read, I used to read well. I focused on not repeating mistakes and tried to stay happy during the preparation. I sometimes used to play with children, as it would refresh my mind also,” Rajit said.
He demonstrated a great intellectual ability early on and routinely did well in his studies. He received an outstanding 96.8% overall in his CBSE Class 10 exams, with a perfect score of 100 in mathematics and a high grade in science.
Rajit Gupta, like many JEE top scorers, plans to attend IIT Bombay to complete his B.Tech in computer science. In 1994, his father, an engineer, disclosed that he had also passed the Rajasthan Pre-Engineering Test (RPET). His father Deepak Gupta who currently works with BSNL had attained the 48th rank after preparing for JEE in Kota as well.

At Kota’s Janki Devi Bajaj Government Girls College, Rajit’s mother teaches home science. His father emphasized that they never put Rajit under undue pressure to meet high standards and instead offered him constant support during his academic career.
The JEE Topper hails from an academically accomplished family as his mother, Dr. Shruti Agarwal, was a university topper and is currently a professor of Home Science at JDB College. His father Deepak is an NIT Allahabad graduate and now works as a Sub-Divisional Engineer at BSNL. Rajit began preparing for JEE from class 6 and went to Allen Kota for his coaching.
Following in Rajit’s footsteps, his 11-year-old sister has also joined a coaching institute now to build a strong academic foundation.
Rajit who is from Kota secured AIR 16 in JEE Main in the April session and achieved a 100 percentile score in the January session.
Saksham Jindal, who aspired to play cricket but was thwarted by COVID, has taken the second spot.
“Preparing for a competitive exam like JEE is certainly challenging, but when combined with dedication, clear objectives and strong guidance, no goal is impossible. I wanted to make my career in Cricket, but due to Covid, I stopped the practice and started to focus on studies,” Saksham said.
