Today on June 14, 2025, the National Testing Agency (NTA) formally released the NEET UG 2025 results and Mahesh Kumar achieved AIR 1.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) reports that more than 12.36 lakh applicants had applied for the NEET-UG 2025 medical entrance exam. Utkarsh Awadhiya of Madhya Pradesh came in second place, and Mahesh Kumar of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, took first place. The female topper was Avika Aggarwal of Delhi, who achieved an outstanding fifth place overall for India.

Who is Mahesh Kumar?
In the fiercely tough medical entrance exam, Mahesh Kumar, who had spent the previous three years studying at a renowned career institute in Sikar, achieved the highest ranking.
Mahesh is a resident of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. He was born on 03 August 2008 and appeared in the examination in the General category. His father’s name is Ramesh Kumar while his mother is Hemlata Bhagwani.
In a proud moment for Rajasthan, Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Hanumangarh, has emerged as the All India Topper, scoring 686 out of 720 marks.
Among the more than 20 lakh people that took the exam on May 4 of this year, he was able to reach the top thanks to his constant effort and the advice given by his institute with him a student of Gurukripa coaching institute.
Mahesh’s academic career has been characterized by tenacity and dedication, and he hails from a modest background and both of his parents work for the government.

2 individuals detained
A Mumbai court noted that the CBI needed to uncover the “larger conspiracy” before extending the detention of two individuals detained in connection with the NEET-UG test score tampering case till June 16.
According to PTI, one of the suspects, Sandeep Shah, conspired with Salim Patel to contact parents of NEET UG 2025 aspirants and offer to manipulate their scores in exchange for money.
The two were detained on June 10 and appeared in court the day after their prior remand ended. They are charged with requesting and receiving undue advantage to influence National Testing Agency (NTA) personnel.
