Rohini Hattangadi was born on April 11, 1955, and presently her age is 68 years. She recently revealed that Ranveer Singh is a good actor but his behavior doesn’t appeal to her. She was asked in an interview to choose between Ranveer and Ranbir and she chose the Brahamastra actor.

Rohini Hattangadi’s family and education

Rohini Hattangadi was born in Pune and attended Renuka Swaroop Memorial Girls High School. Rohini Hattangadi followed her love for theatre and enrolled in the National School of Drama (NSD) located in New Delhi in 1971. It was at NSD where she encountered Jayadev Hattangadi, who later became her spouse.

They got married after graduating in 1974. Rohini Hattangadi also honed her skills in classical dance forms and is a mother to Aseem Hattangadi, who has followed in her footsteps and pursued a career as a theatre actor. Jayadev Hattangadi passed away in 2008 after battling cancer. Rohini was born to Anant Oak.

Rohini Hattangadi career

Rohini Hattangadi made her film debut in 1978 with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan and went on to deliver memorable performances in acclaimed films such as Arth (1982), Party, and Saaransh (1984).

Despite being often typecast in motherly roles in mainstream Hindi cinema after her portrayal in Gandhi, Hattangadi continued to work in parallel cinema and art-house films, collaborating with renowned directors like Govind Nihalani, Muzaffar Ali, and Girish Kasaravalli, among others.

She received critical acclaim for her roles in films such as Aghaat (1985), Anjuman (1986), Mane (1991), and Ek Ghar (1991). She also appeared in regional films, including Marathi, Kannada, and even a Japanese Kabuki play, Ibaragi, directed by Shozo Sato, becoming the first woman in Asia to do so.

Apart from her successful film career, Rohini Hattangadi has been actively involved in theatre. She co-founded the Marathi theatre group “Awishkar” in Mumbai, which has produced over 150 plays. She has been a part of several noteworthy plays, including adaptations of Bengali, Greek, and Hindi stories, and has received immense recognition for her performances.

Rohini Hattangadi has had several notable performances on television, including shows like Mahayagya, Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum, Intehaan, and Hindustani. She has also played lead roles in Marathi serials Char Divas Sasuche and Vahinisaheb. She has made special appearances in shows like Tuza.
