Akansha Ranjan Kapoor was born on September 18, 1993, in Mumbai but holds American citizenship. She is 5ft 6in tall. Anu Ranjan, the founder of the Indian Television Academy, and Shashi Ranjan, an actor and director from FTII and publisher of GR8 Magazine, are her parents. Anushka Ranjan is her older sister and a performer as well.

In 2019, Kapoor made her television debut in the fashion series Decoded on TLC. She then co-starred with Aparshakti Khurana in the music video for Tere Do Naina.
