Ashish More, the Delhi government’s secretary for services, has been stripped of his responsibilities in light of the most recent Supreme Court ruling.

The decision to dismiss More was made shortly after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government was given jurisdiction over the hiring and transfer of state employees by the court.

In its ruling on Thursday, the Supreme Court emphasized that, with the exception of issues relating to land, police, and public order, which continue to fall under the lieutenant governor’s purview, the elected government in Delhi has legislative and executive authority over matters pertaining to the services department. Before this ruling, all Delhi government officers’ transfers and postings were under the lieutenant governor’s control.

As per the reports, Ashish More has received a show-cause notice from the Delhi government for failing to comply with the government’s order to replace him with a new officer. Now the administration, led by Arvind Kejriwal, has said that More has chosen to follow the transfer order released by the Delhi government.

Who is Ashish More?

Ashish More is an Indian government employee. He has been in the news because he has chosen to follow the transfer order released by the Delhi government after getting fired.

He was born in 1980 and is a native of Maharashtra. After completing his schooling, he graduated in the arts.

Early in his career, Ashish More worked for the Delhi government as the general administration department secretary. He was subsequently chosen to serve as the services secretary in 2022.

2005 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, Ashish Madhaorao More, who was working as Secretary, General Administration Department, had been given additional charge of Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary.

Why was he removed?

The services minister issued a show-cause notice to Ashish More after he disobeyed directives released by the Delhi government. According to the government’s announcement on Monday, the warning was sent as a result of More’s unlawful absence, which caused a sudden shift in his attitude.

The government claims that More made biased decisions and had a questionable, obstructionist work ethic. According to the memo released by the minister of services, he consciously chose not to maintain the primacy of the Constitution and democratic principles. It also accused him of attempting to retain his position illegally to fulfill ulterior motives.

The decision to remove More from his position came after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal hinted at a major reshuffle in the bureaucracy. However, it has been claimed that the transfer order for Ashish More was made without contacting the Civil Services Board (CSB), which handles issues pertaining to the transfer of IAS employees.
