The win marks the Jayhawksโ first national title since 2008, and their fourth NCAA Championship overall so far.
Bill Self head coach career
Bill Self has served as the head coach of the menโs basketball team at the University of Kansas since 2003. In that span, Self has led the Jayhawks to 16 Big 12 regular season championships. He has also led the team to four NCAA Final Four appearances, and two championships.
Bill Self is the sixth most winningest-coach among all the active Division I head coaches. He has nurtured so many young talents who have all gone on to make the NBA.
Back in 2017, Bill Self was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall Of Fame. He and signed a lifetime contract extension with the Jayhawks back in 2021.

Cindy Self is the wife of Bill Self, who originally hails from Oklahoma City. She graduated from Oklahoma State University back in 1986, before meeting Bill who also studied at Oklahoma State in 1984. While Cindy was a cheerleader at the university, Bill played for the menโs basketball team.
While her DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 55-60 years.
The couple married together in 1988 and have been together ever since. While speaking about Cindy, Bill reportedly said:
If there was such a thing as a perfect coachโs wife, Cindy would be her. She is unselfish of my time, she is independent but always there to focus on the team and our family.โ
Cindy Self is known to have a passion for helping out children. Following her graduation from OKS, she earned a Masterโs degree in elementary education. Later, in 2006, Bill and Cindy together founded the Assists Foundation, which helps youths in their community. Cindy also has a Facebook account, where she constantly posts many photos of both her and Bill.

Bill and Cindy Self together have two children, a son named Tyler, and a daughter named Lauren. Lauren Self is the older child who is a 2013 KU graduate and currently married to Hayden Browning since 16 August 2014. The couple have two children together named Ella Browning and Phoebe Browning and the family lives in Richardson, Texas.
Meanwhile, Tyler is the younger child of Bill and Cindy who has a love for basketball like his father. Tyler played basketball throughout his days at the University of Kansas. He later earned an MBA degree from the University of Kansas School Of Business. He currently works as the general manager of a G-League team named the Austin Spurs.
