Kyle was born to American parents, David and Rebecca Filipowski. Both his parents attended Warwick Valley Secondary School in Orange County and were both college athletes. Having a strong athletic lineage has influenced as well as contributed towards Kyle’s success in basketball.

Rebecca Filipowski is the mother of Kyle Filipowski, who was formerly known as ‘Becky Hagerdon.’ Rebecca started out playing basketball at a young age, notably as a 6-foot-4 center at the Warwick High School. Throughout her career, she achieved significant milestones like scoring 2,164 career points. She also led her team to the New York State Championship title back in 1982.
After completing her education, Rebecca continued her basketball journey at Long Beach State in California she suffered a severe knee injury. As a result of the injury, she had to prematurely ended her playing career. Rebecca has since started coaching after obtaining several degrees in Physical Education and Athletic Training from SUNY Cortland.

David Filipowski is the father of Kyle Filipowski who is also a former collegiate basketball player just like him. Although not as successful as his wife who was a former Division I basketball player, David competed at Slippery Rock. He raised four children including Kyle, and instilled the love and passion for basketball within the family.
Filipowski’s brother, Matt, played with Kyle at Wilbraham & Monson and committed to playing college basketball for Harvard and Filipowski has three brothers: older brothers Daniel and Taylor and a twin brother, Matthew.
