In Hong Kong, four family members, including Abby Choi’s ex-husband, have been charged with her murder after her body parts were found in a soup pot and a fridge, know about the parents of Alex Kwong
The case has shocked the city because Choi’s glamorous social media presence and international success as an influencer stand in stark contrast to the horrible details of her murder.
Abby Choi, a 28-year-old socialite and influencer, had a large number of followers on social media because of her high-class lifestyle and great taste in clothes. Choi’s Instagram posts often showed high-end fashion brands, luxury travel spots, and snippets of her personal life. She has around 100,000 followers.

Abby Choi was on the digital cover of L’Officiel Monaco in 2022. The magazine said that she was a “style icon and media personality who took the world by storm with her impeccable sense of style and her unbridled passion for fashion.”
Even though Choi was successful as an influencer, she reportedly had money problems with her ex-family. Abby Choi got divorced from her ex-husband. And remarried into a wealthy family that owned a chain of restaurants in the area. She continued to help her ex-husband and in-laws by giving them a $9.2 million luxury condo.
The 28-year-old fashion model had a wedding ceremony with Mr Tam, who also goes by the name Chris, in 2016, but the couple never legally registered their marriage and it is not clear when she was divorced from Alex Kwong, whose parents and brother are now embroiled in police investigations into her gruesome murder. Ms Choi married Kwong when she was about 18 and had two kids with him, now aged eight and 10 and she also has two other children with her current partner, Mr Tam.
Abby Choi’s family misleading the police
Police say that Abby Choi’s husband and family members slowed down the investigation by giving false information. Choi was last seen on Wednesday, and her body parts were later found in a fridge and a soup pot. The skull that was found had a “small hole” in it. Which could mean that it was the result of a “fatal attack.”

On Sunday, Abby Choi’s ex-husband, Alex Kwong, who is 28 years old, his father, who used to be a police officer, and his older brother were all charged with murder. Also Kwong’s mother was charged with trying to change the way the law works. All of them were not allowed to go free on bail, and their hearings have been postponed until May 8.
After a short search of the whole city, Alex Kwong was caught on a pier on Saturday. Police said he seemed to be trying to leave Hong Kong by boat. He was said to have about $60,000 in cash and a bunch of expensive watches. The name of his family members is not known.
City has a history of strange crimes
Hong Kong has a low crime rate, but there have been some strange and brutal murders there in the past like Abby Choi. In 2014, banker Rurik Jutting killed and tortured two Indonesian women while he was high on cocaine.
Then in 2003, American Nancy Kissel was called the “Milkshake Murderer” because she killed her husband with a hammer after giving him sedatives in a strawberry milkshake. Also in the “Hello Kitty case” of 1999, three men and a girl held Fan Man-Yee hostage and killed him. Her head was cut off and her body was put in a Hello Kitty pillow.
