Social media users, however, were unimpressed with the data and demanded that the corporation halt travel plans to the Maldives due to disparaging comments made by a few of the nation’s ministers regarding Prime Minister Modi.
The Internet demands the suspension of Maldives bookings.
MakeMyTrip said that since the Honorable PM’s visit, there has been a 3400% rise in on-platform searches for Lakshadweep in the X post that was shared as a news flash. It went on to say that they launched a ‘Beaches of India’ campaign on the platform with deals and discounts to entice Indian tourists to visit the breathtaking beaches in the nation because of people’s interest in Indian beaches.
The article had over 170K views in a few hours, and that number continued to rise as more and more individuals left comments requesting that the Maldives be removed as a destination on the platform. Some even warned to switch to EasyMyTrip as they had taken the brave step of cancelling all its flight schedules to the Maldives. With MakeMyTrip not suspending bookings to Maldives as of yet, a trend has sparked on Twitter/X, one where users are asking others to uninstall the app. Many have also alluded to the fact that the company has Chinese directors.

This visit deviates from the custom of most Maldivian leaders, who typically choose New Delhi as their first international port of call.
