Everyone’s daily lives now revolve around social media, but one West Bengali couple went even further after selling their eight-month-old infant to pay for an iPhone 14 that they would use to create reels. A couple shockingly swapped their newborn for an iPhone 14 in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas area in order to post videos on Instagram while touring Bengal.
Two People Were Arrest But Father Remains At Large
According to a story, the police have filed a case against the couple and the woman who purchased the child.
The mother, Sathi, and the buyer, Priyanka Ghosh, have both been taken into custody by the West Bengal police. Jaydev, the infant’s father, is still at large.
The event was discovered after the couple’s neighbours called the police after observing the couple’s strange behaviour and the abrupt departure of their 8-month-old kid.
Parents Choose Instagram Reels Over An Infant
The couple’s struggling finances were evident from the neighbours’ observation that they had abruptly purchased an iPhone around the time their infant disappeared.
Upon further questioning, the mother acknowledged that they had really sold the infant. They added that they had made visits to various locations in West Bengal with the proceeds to make videos for Instagram reels.
Apparently, the father allegedly tried to sell their seven-year-old daughter as well, according to sources.
On Saturday night, Jaydev attempted to sell the daughter after selling the boy. Immediately after we comprehended it, we called the police.
However, as per Local councillor Tarak Guha, Jaydev had been detained by the police. Furthermore, authorities are currently looking into the situation from all possible angles as part of an inquiry.
