When Livia Clara Schepp and Alessia were six, their father took them from their home in St. Sulpice, Switzerland. Matthias Schepp and the twins’ mother, Irina Schepp, were no longer together, but Matthias agreed to watch the twins over the weekend and promised to give them back to their mother on Monday.

However he took money out of multiple ATMs in Marseille and sent letters to Irina from Italy, saying that he had killed the girls and would kill himself.

Matthias Schepp died by suicide

Law enforcement agencies from Switzerland, France, and Italy all helped look for Livia Clara Schepp and Alessia, but no matter how hard they tried, the girls were never found. Matthias Schepp jumped in front of a train and killed himself on February 3, 2011.

His body was found in Cerignola, Italy. He had written a letter to Irina in which he admitted to killing the girls and said that they were “resting in peace,” but he didn’t say where their bodies were.

Livia Clara Schepp was a lively girl

Irina, Livia Clara Schepp’s mother, said that she was a happy, active, and dance-loving child. She had blonde hair and green eyes, and when she went missing at such a young age, it broke the hearts of her family, friends, and neighbours.

Irina Schepp has kept looking for answers and has become a voice for missing children in the years since the girls were taken from her. She has gone on TV shows and talked to the press, pleading for anyone who knows anything about what happened to her daughters to come forward.

Even after a lot of searching and working with other countries, no one knows what happened to the girls. The tragedy of their deaths shows how important it is to protect children and make sure they are safe and healthy, especially when there is fighting in the family or one parent takes them away.
