The press release also disclosed the arrest of Christopher Preciado’s father, 53-year-old Ramon Preciado, who faces charges of abuse of a corpse. Ramon Preciado is accused of aiding his son in the relocation of the victims’ bodies.
The arrest of 19-year-old Christopher Preciado, charged with Capital Murder, and his father, 53-year-old Ramon Preciado, facing charges of Abuse of a Corpse for their involvement in moving the bodies after the murders, was announced by SAPD in a press release.
Charges
A week following the discovery of the lifeless bodies of pregnant teen Savannah Soto and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra, each with a gunshot wound, in a car near a San Antonio apartment complex, police identified and arrested two suspects in the case.
Christopher Preciado, 19, is in custody on suspicion of capital murder, and his father, Ramon, has been charged with abuse of a corpse for allegedly assisting in relocating the bodies.
In the press release, the authorities stated that “Tonight, SAPD arrested 19-year-old Christopher Preciado for the murders of Savannah Soto and Matthew Guerra. Christopher is charged with Capital Murder. SAPD also arrested his father, 53-year old Ramon Preciado, who is charged with Abuse of a Corpse for helping Christopher move the bodies after they were murdered.”
Surveillance Footage Released
The arrests occurred shortly after the release of surveillance footage depicting the victims’ silver Kia Optima and an unidentified pickup truck with two individuals.
The video was recorded before the bodies were found. Savannah Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, were discovered dead in a car on December 26 in the 5900 block of Danny Kaye, three days after they were reported missing.
Soto, who was nine months pregnant, had a scheduled induction on December 24 but failed to attend.
Authorities disclosed that Savannah’s cell phone, found at the crime scene, aided the technology team, along with the United States Secret Service, in gathering sufficient information leading to the arrests on Wednesday.
The Secret Service successfully tracked down the vehicle from the surveillance footage, leading them to the perpetrators’ residence.
Upon arriving at the residence, Ramon Preciado, the father, reportedly cooperated with the investigation after answering the door.
While specific details of the case remain undisclosed, the police have suggested that the shooting may have resulted from a narcotics-related deal gone awry.
