After a four-day search for the missing Indiana University students, Siddhant Shah, 19, and Aryan Vaidya, 20, were tragically discovered dead on Tuesday. While swimming with friends on Saturday, the youngsters vanished beneath Monroe Lake’s surface.
The remains of the two young men were finally found on the fourth day, despite the Indiana Department of Natural Resources conducting daily searches. According to a press statement from the DNR, the remains were found in 18 feet of water to the east of Paynetown Marina.
The two students were allegedly aboard a pontoon boat when they decided to anchor it and go swimming in the lake. Their friends tried to assist when Shah and Vaidya vanished and failed to surface, but they were unable to find them.

When speaking with the IDS, Lieutenant Angela Goldman revealed that the protracted search was caused by Saturday’s strong winds, which persisted throughout the subsequent days. Aryan Vaidya and Siddhant Shah were IU students who recently passed away after going missing 4 days ago.
Siddhant Shah was an Indian citizen and a native of Vadodara, Gujarat. His whole family is living in India, whereas he has been living in the USA for some time for study purposes.
On the other hand, Aryan Vaidya was a US citizen and a native of Ohio. His family is reportedly living in Cincinnati. He completed his schooling at Sycamore High School in 2021.
Both Aryan Vaidya and Siddhant Shah are students at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
At the time of their deaths, Aryan was 20 years old, whereas Siddhant was 19 years old.
