Caicedo, an Ecuadorian born on November 2, 2001, joined the youth programme of Independiente del Valle at the age of 13 and started playing football.

Professional career

Caicedo joined the youth academy of Independiente del Valle at the age of 13. He joined the core group in 2019. Caicedo made his Independiente del Valle debut on October 1, 2019, in a 1-0 win over L.D.U. Quito in the Ecuadorian Serie A.

On February 1, 2021, Caicedo agreed to a four-and-a-half-year deal with Brighton & Hove Albion in England for an undisclosed amount. Caicedo earned his first appearance in the first team matchday squad as Brighton lost 1-0 away to Leicester City in the FA Cup. On August 24, he made his debut for Brighton in an away encounter against Cardiff City in the second round of the EFL Cup. He also provided an assist for the team’s first goal, scored by Andi Zeqiri, as Brighton won 2-0.

International career

In a 1-0 loss to Argentina in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification game on October 9, 2020, Caicedo made his senior national team debut for Ecuador. He opened the scoring in a 4-2 home victory over Uruguay on October 13, 2020 at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado.

Along with Brighton colleagues Pervis Estupián and Jeremy Sarmiento, Caicedo was nominated to Ecuador’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on November 14.
