The 40-year-old has been on remand at the Brians 2 prison since January 2, and he will reportedly serve his sentence there.
Dani Alves sentenced to four-and-a-half years of jail time
A Spanish court convicted Dani Alves of s8xual assault earlier this week after he allegedly r*ped a woman in a nightclub. The court sentenced him to four and a-half years behind bars at the Brians 2 Prison outside of Barcelona.
The multiple-time LaLiga and Champions League winner fervently denied the accusations levelled against him and maintained his innocence. Alves even admitted to having s*xual intercourse with the victim but claimed that it was consensual. However, the case eventually turned out in his favour. Prosecutors for the state and the victim reportedly even sought to impose heftier punishments for Alves. There were initial demands of nine and 12-year sentences. As of now, Alves and his legal team are making plans to appeal his sentence.
Brians 2 prison explored
The Brians 2 prison is a prison located just over 20 miles from Barcelona. The prison was initially set up in 2007 to help other overcrowding penitentiaries, and it houses over 1500 inmates. Interestingly, Brains 2 is unlike other prisons and features a massive swimming pool where convicts can keep themselves cool during the hot summer months. According to reports, Alves will share the prison with a former bodyguard of Ronaldinho, who is his old Brazil teammate. Ronaldinho’s former bodyguard, named Coutinho, is also imprisoned at Brians 2 for s*xual assault.
John McAfee, the antivirus software pioneer, who was its most famous resident before his death in June 2021, stated:
Here I am treated as a human being instead of a number.”
McAfee was locked up in Brians 2 back in October 2020 following multiple charges of fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion in America. The computer programmer/businessman surprisingly found the conditions of the prison quite pleasant.
Brians 2 prison history of violence
Despite its comparatively pleasant condition, Brians 2 has had its fair share of violence in the past. Prior to McAfee’s arrest, there was a prisoner jailed for s*xually exploiting minors and disabled individuals. According to reprots, fellow prisoners stabbed him 29 times in his chest, neck, and abdomen. Moreover, one of the inmates with mental health problems also attacked his fellow inmates and staff back in April 2020. The authorities managed to put a stop to it only after they restrained him.
