Ae Sun surprised Gwan-Sik with a published volume of her poems as he spends his last days cleaning the house despite his illness. He proudly carries her on his back one final time, overcome with emotion.

His family rushes him to the hospital in November 2006 as his condition deteriorates. He asks Ae Sun if their time together was enjoyable before he draws his last breath, and she sobs as she replies that even if there were challenges, she never felt alone. Gwan-Sik saved the money Geum-Myeong sent him and left it for his children, along with an automobile for his son, it is disclosed after his death. Ae Sun still resides in their flat, where she dedicates herself to poetry and treasures his memories.
Ae Sun currently teaches writing to senior citizens and finds comfort in her work. When Geum-Myeong and Eun-Myeong arrive, they deliver good news: her poetry has been widely published. She celebrates with her family since she is very happy. Insinuating a spiritual bond, a mysterious woman who remarkably resembles Ae Sun’s deceased mother reads her poems and displays intense pride.
A heartwarming flashback to Ae Sun and Gwan-Sik as children, standing in a flower field and daydreaming about the future, closes the story. The closing statement, which captures a lifetime of tenacity and devotion, pays tribute to their journey with love and thanks as the camera pans out.
