Mason Greenwood has been told to stay away from Manchester United until the team decides what to do with him, know when could he return to training
Charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault against the same woman were all dropped recently against the 21-year-old. But the club now wants to do its own internal investigation into what happened with the player and the accusations that were made against him.
When does Mason Greenwood return to Manchester United training, likely date and latest news
This has already begun, but United hasn’t said how long it will take. They didn’t want to start that process before because they didn’t want it to get in the way of criminal proceedings that were already going on.
Greenwood won’t return to training, or play matches for United, until the club’s process has reached its conclusion.
The club must now determine whether or not Greenwood should be absorbed back into their plans. As for whether he is allowed to play in the Premier League, now that the January transfer window has closed, as Greenwood is 21 years old, and was born in October 2001, he qualifies as an ‘Under-21 player’ and doesn’t have to be registered as part of the 25-man squad.
Premier League rules state: “Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad.
“Each player is assigned a squad number, which they wear during Premier League matches.
“For the 2022-23 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2001.”
Mason Greenwood speaks up against the allegation of rape and assault
Even though the case against Mason Greenwood will not go to trial, he will not be able to go back to the club’s Carrington Training base or be a part of the team in any way. His name has stayed on the first-team squad list on Man Utd’s official website, which could mean he could get back into football.

In a statement released on Thursday, the player talked about the charges being dropped.
Mason Greenwood said, “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support. There will be no further comment at this time.” Greenwood was last in court in November, where a November 23 trial date was set.
The alleged crimes were against one woman and happened between November 1, 2018, and October 15, 2022, according to the police. Mason Greenwood was accused of “repeatedly engaging” controlling and intimidating behaviour for almost four years, including making threats and insulting comments on social media.
Greenwood spent three nights in jail
He was also accused of trying to rape the woman on October 21, 2021, and hurting her between December 12 and December 31, 2021. After being charged by police on October 15, the football player was put in jail.

But a judge let him go if he didn’t talk to witnesses, including the person who filed the complaint, and if he lived at an address in Bowdon. The striker also spent three nights in jail after he was arrested at the home he rented in Trafford for £15,000 a month. He was kicked off the team, but he still got paid £75,000 a week.
Mason Greenwood dropped by his sponsors
In response to the allegations, Mason Greenwood was taken out of FIFA 22 and his sponsor, Nike, dropped him. He also told Football Manager 2022 that he would not be in the game. The No. 11’s name was taken off of any merchandise on the official Utd site, and his teammates stopped following him on Instagram.
The last time Greenwood played for the Red Devils was on January 22, 2017, when they beat West Ham 1-0. The player joined the club when he was only six years old and worked his way up through the ranks until he was a regular on the first team.
In 2019, at age 17, Mason Greenwood was the youngest football player to play for United in the Champions League. Greenwood has played for the Red Devils a total of 129 times and scored 35 goals. In 2020, Greenwood got his first England cap when he came off the bench in a 1-0 win against Iceland. The game was managed by Gareth Southgate. Greenwood missed the Three Lions’ World Cup run in Qatar last year because the case was in court.
