Panels from a comedy webtoon, The Ki Sisters with a mother and newborn child are used in the “Queen Never Cry” or “Queen Don’t Cry” meme
As part of the humorous plot, the woman in the manhwa and webtoon The Ki Sisters whispers to the baby, “Queen never cry,” and when she is given to her mother for the first time, she immediately stops crying and the baby snaps into her mother’s pose and expression to the shock of the hospital workers.
What is the “Queen Don’t/Never Cry” baby meme, its meaning and what is its relation to The Ki Sisters manhwa explained
Many noticed that the baby looked to be “locked in” and used the meme template to talk about the queen’s calm exterior and liken it to where one might feel like breaking down but still holding it together with grace and dignity.
The meme featuring the frightening infant that you may have seen everywhere is taken from a chapter of user bumbae’s webtoon, The Ki Sisters. Four affluent, homeschooled, and somewhat sinister sisters are the focus of this comic and satirical take on a particular kind of South Korean drama.
One of these sisters gives birth in chapter 34. In the section of the chapter that went viral, she is seen sitting upright in her hospital bed, with her arms folded and her makeup flawless, while someone hands her the whimpering baby. To the surprise of the hospital staff, the baby adopts her mother’s posture and attitude when the new mother merely says, “Queen never cry,” rather than taking her.
The meme now comprises of fan art and basic references because this moment is funny enough on its own. People have already combined it with references to other memes, making it the ideal catchphrase.

This chapter of The Ki Sisters was published on November 22, 2024 by Webtoons creator and illustrator bumbae. Reddit user u/OriginalAlberto saw the segment on Discord and thought it was funny enough to be interesting, so he clipped it shortly after the birth and uploaded it to the manhwa (Korean comics) thread that same day.
It spread to X by Nov. 23. Users began mentioning the Queen never cry images in tweets without the comic and combining it with terms from other recent memes less than a day after people had had time to process their first reactions to the image. For instance, several observed that the infant appeared to be “locked in.”
