Why pickleball is getting popular in the US

Over the past few years, the game has become increasingly popular in the USA. The main reason is because of its similarity with the table tennis game and it is fairly easy to learn and anyone can play this game easily.

Pickleball game rules, court size

Similar to tennis, the pickleball is also played on the court but with different dimensions. The size of the pickleball field is 44×20 with a 36-inch net and has a non-volley zone called “The Kitchen”. Like tennis, pickleball can be played both singles and doubles.

Two Bounce Rule in Pickleball-

The game starts with a ‘‘ Two Bounce’’ means the serving team serves the ball cross-court to the opposition and the serve must land past the kitchen area otherwise the service will be considered foul. If your serve lands in the kitchen or on the kitchen line, the service will be called fault. The returning team must return the service to bounce 1 or else it will be called a fault.

Non-Valley Zone Rule in Pickleball-

While playing Pickleball, you can hit out the balls of the air only if you are standing outside the non-volley zone or ‘‘the kitchen’’. If you hit the ball out of the air while staying inside the zone, the points will be rewarded to your opponent. Ensure you reset your position out of the area while hitting the smash.

Scoring in Pickleball-

In the pickleball, points are only scored during service, which means that the receiver cannot score a point. At the start of the game, the server moves to the right side for the service and if he scores a point, he will move to another side of the court. The service is delivered in diagonal at the court of opposition.

Pickleball history-

The game was invented in 1965 as a backyard game for kids on the island of Bainbridge, Washington, US. The game is more and more popular day by day in the United States and consequently in 2022, the game was adopted as an official sport of the State of Washington.
