In a video shared by Jack, who was raised in an Islamic household, Davis was observed reciting prayers. Subsequently, in a video posted by DUS Dawah, an Islamic educational platform, it was revealed that Gervonta Davis’ new name is now Abdul Wahid.

Gervonta Davis New Name

According to DUS Dawah, Imam Hasan Somali welcomed Davis to Islam and provided insight into the significance of his chosen name.

Imam Somali explained, “The attribute that he chose the name that he chose as a Muslim is Abdul Wahid. It means the servant of the one from the names of Allah, the name of God is Al Wahid.”

Gervonta Davis’ conversion has garnered widespread appreciation and acceptance from various Islamic communities globally.

Notable figures like Badou Jack and UFC welterweight fighter Belal Muhammad have extended their congratulations and warm welcomes to the American boxer. However, there have also been critics raising questions about the sincerity of Davis’ conversion and the underlying motivations behind it.

It Is noteworthy that Gervonta Davis follows in the footsteps of other prominent boxers who have embraced Islam and changed their names.

The legendary Muhammad Ali, considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, and American heavyweight legend Mike Tyson both underwent similar transformations in their faith and names.

Devin Haney, another American lightweight boxer, serves as a more recent example of an athlete finding solace in Islam. Notably, on December 24, 2023, Gervonta Davis officially converted to Islam and adopted the Muslim name Abdul Wahid.
