Mr. Irrelevant 2022
Last year the Mr Irrelevant title went to Brock Purdy from Iowa State. However, the 49ers secured a great signing in the 23-year-old quarterback who had a hell of a rookie season. Despite being the 262nd selection in the 2022 draft, and suffering an injury that left him on the bench early, he had a great rookie season.
Purdy played a major role in leading the San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game. Moreover, his performances put him as the favorite starting QB in future games. As such, the interest among fans and experts towards the last pick of the draft has heightened.
Mr Irrelevant for 2023 NFL Draft
This year, the 2023 Mr Irrelevant of the NFL Draft goes to Desjuan Johnson of the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams have been going for veterans in recent years in a bid to win the Super Bowl. They came close to it in the 2021 season, but they are now rebuilding their roster around their existing stars. Besides securing Desjuan Johnson as the last pick for this yearโs draft, another pick worth mentioning was quarterback Stetson Bennett from Georgia.
Desjuan Johnson is the 259th overall pick this year and he plays as a defensive lineman. Johnson comes out of Toledo and he will get to line up next to a future Hall of Famer. Last year, the 23-year-old registered 5.5 sacks, 16.5 tackle-for-loss, and one interception in 14 games.
