The Super Sixes competition has been started again by the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025
Prior to the start of start of the game in the 55th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the IPL Super Sixes competition began once again.
The home team appeared to be in control of the April 5 match which took place between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, but the game was eventually rained out, giving both teams one point.

The match ended without a result, formally eliminating the Orange Army from the IPL 2025 playoff race with just seven points from 11 games.
The Delhi Capitals struggled the entire game and only scored 133/7 in their 20 overs. Delhi now has 13 points from 11 games after six victories, four losses, and the postponed game.
The IPL Super Sixes tournament returned before to the start of the match in Hyderabad. In addition to giving players a chance to show off their vicious smashing skills, the competition seeks to provide league fans with additional entertainment.

A maximum of two or three players are assigned to each team playing to compete, and a batter is given one or two chances to hit the longest six against the ball machine’s delivery. The batter with the longest six-hitter overall receives a prize money of Rs.2 lakhs.
The challenge which is a callback to the earlier IPL editions, where both players and franchise owners used to participate in such fun six-hitting challenges saw CSK’s Dewald Brevis’ hit a 114-m six prior to their match between CSK vs KKR in Delhi which saw him win a cash prize of Rs.2 lakhs.
The record for the longest six in IPL history is held by South African batsman Albie Morkel, who hit a 125-meter six during the inaugural IPL season in 2008.

Back in 2012 when the super sixes competition was started, each team nominated up to three batsmen to face a total of twelve balls delivered by a bowling machine and as a warm up, each player received two practice balls. The winner of each challenge who hit the longest six as measured by Hawk Eye, and received a prize of Rs.1 lakh.
All Super Sixes challenges were played on the pitch that was used in the preceding IPL game and each of the nine IPL teams took part in one of the Super Sixes challenges.
At the end of the season, the title of “the DLF IPL’s longest hitter” was presented to the player who hit the longest six in the Super Sixes challenges, and was given the grand amount of Rs.5 lakh.
Abhinav Manohar’s six
Before the match between SRH and DC began, the Orange Army put forward Aniket Verma and Abhinav Manohar, while the Capitals put forward Jake Fraser-McGurk and Sameer Rizvi. With a spectacular 93-meter six, Abhinav won the championship.
Aniket also broke the 91-meter mark after him. Delhi Capitals players Fraser and Rizvi were limited to hitting 80- and 82-meter sixes, respectively.
Despite his team’s failure to win the IPL Super Six, Stubbs performed confidently throughout the match. Even though Delhi Capitals collapsed at 29/5 in 7.1 overs, his undefeated 41 off 36 enabled them to get a respectable score of 133/7.
