She made her international debut in 2017, in the Pan American U20 Athletics Championships. She won a gold in the 4 X 100 m relay during that event.
Sha’Carris attended the Louisiana State University where she joined the LSU Lady Tigers track and field team. During her time there, she competed at the 2019 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. She finished as a finalist in the 200-meter race and 60-meter dash events. Her performances at the 2019 NCAA Championships impressed everyone and it is considered the second-best ever by a female sprinter. Following these achievements, she finally began her professional career in 2019 after waiving her LSU collegiate eligibility.
