Notably, many of the original Balkan Rage videos started around late 2022, depicting women defining their specific way of showing anger as “Balkan female rage.” However, on August 27, 2024, a meme creator called @low_quality_stan91 posted the first known Balkan Rage copypasta meme edit. They posted a Jonkler meme edit using the text overlay:
Balkan Rage + zimbawean flicker munting + equatorial guinea sandpaper edging.”
TikTokers eventually started using the Balkan Rage meme to comment a series of trending TikTok brainrot terms together using plus signs. Once such example is: “Still water + adrenaline + hawk tuah + balkan rage + those who know” under the comment section of an unrelated video. Some TikTokers even use it as a text overlay in some of their clipped TikToks.
Balkan Rage cultural context
There is currently a growing phenomenon in TikTok comments where certain commenters feel the need to discuss obscure ideas. For example, in a cave exploration video, there were certain comments warning about ‘still water’, since water bodies without flow could possibly develop bacteria and likely be harmful for people to swim in or ingest.
Such, TikTokers who comment these facts try to appear knowledgeable and fish for a ‘blue comment’, which could lead to search TikTok for videos on the subject.” As such, TikTokers have begun using the Balkan Rage copypasta meme as a way of calling out such commenters and making fun of them.
