After speaking with the actress, Filipino TV host and publicist Boy Abunda confirmed the rumours about the couple’s breakup on his program, Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. Rappler said that he requested fans respect their privacy and indicated that they could still work things out.
A few days before Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque’s split became public knowledge, the former’s famous makeup artist Cristine Duque used Threads to reshare her road manager Cristina Ferrer’s post explaining what “manipulative sad boi” meant. Cristine Duque wrote, “They should be stopped,” as the post’s caption, although the original image featured an Urban Dictionary screenshot that defined “manipulative sad boi.”

The post read, “Any guy who’ll try to convince someone that they’re the victim of the situation. They’ll make you believe that you’re in the wrong and that you’re the one who should be feeling guilty. Toying with your mind, they’re seriously just bad news.”
Fans surmise that they might be alluding to Dominic Roque following his breakup with Bea Alonzo, even though none of them specifically named him in the messages. The split celebrity couple hasn’t made any formal announcements about their split as of yet.
What is the age gap between Dominic Roque and Bea Alonzo?
According to Rappler, Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque became well-known in July 2020 after the latter shared a photo of himself and a woman on Instagram with the caption, “Tila ako’y nabighani,” which translates to “It seems I’ve been captivated.” Both of their faces were hidden inside a ramen restaurant in Tokyo.
The 36-year-old Alonzo later confirmed the reports in an interview with Mega Magazine in April 2021, but she clarified that she and the 33-year-old Roque were not in an exclusive relationship. The pair travelled to the United States in July 2021, when they even went to Roque’s aunt, former actress Beth Tamayo, for her baby shower. Along with spending Dominic’s birthday in Napa, California, they also captioned the photo with the word “lover.”
Why did the pair break up?
The Mistress actress revealed to 24 Oras a month later that she was thrilled with her love life and wasn’t trying to hide it—she was just being cautious because of her past experiences. She also talked about how their friendship—which began years ago as friends—grew into romance on an impromptu vacation to Japan.
The couple embraced social media as they celebrated their one anniversary together in January 2022. But until they made their engagement public in July 2023, they maintained a low profile. Their black-and-white images show that Bea accepted Dominic’s surprise proposal during a shoot.
While travelling to Europe with Dominic, Bea Alonzo revealed in November of last year that she had acquired Spanish citizenship and had constructed a home in Madrid. They announced at the same time that the wedding would take place in 2024 and that preparations were in progress.
Regretfully, Bea Alonzo’s absence from her engagement ring in public earlier this month sparked rumours that the couple was divorcing, according to Manila News. According to reports, she gave Roque her ring back.
