Lactate inflection point (LIP), can be defined as “the exercise intensity at which the blood concentration of lactate and/or lactic acid begins to increase”. So, to know the sustainability and the highest intensity of players, the teams make them go through these tests. To take the test players have to run around the Kirkby pitches with different intervals and paces. Moreover, it sounds simple but it is not an easy task to perform. When the run is complete, players have to give blood samples after every interval for the testing of lactic acid.

So, when the drill is complete then there is a certain amount. Moreover, the players need to be below that amount in order to considered fit. And, as expected James Milner was the one who had the highest amount. The right-back of the first team Andy Robertson said “It’s horrible, running around the pitch, I’m doing it with Ings and that.”
