To the dismay of Twitter fans, Meta-owned Instagram’s Twitter competitor, Threads, is about to launch sooner than anticipated. The unhappiness started when Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, revealed upcoming changes, including a rate limit and obligatory authentication to access the tweet deck.
Yet over the weekend, the app had a brief appearance on the Play Store before being removed after a few hours. But you can download it in Allofapps or Appisfree.

In the meantime, rumors and speculations about Threads had been swirling for a while, even igniting lighthearted jokes about a future cage match between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta.
While details about the cage battle are yet unknown, we do know that the app at the core of it all is set to debut as early as July 6. When Threads’ listing on Twitter first emerged, Jack Dorsey, the former CEO and co-founder of Twitter, couldn’t help but weigh in on the app’s data collection methods.
In a veiled dig at Meta, Dorsey posted a screenshot with the tagline, “All your threads belong to us,” showing the volume of user data Threads will gather. Elon Musk, expressing agreement with Dorsey’s sentiment, chimed in with a simple yet affirming comment, “Yeah.”

What are Instagram’s threads?
The business Meta, which owns Instagram, created a stand-alone mobile application called Threads. When Threads is downloaded and installed on your smartphone, it immediately establishes a connection with your active Instagram login.
The application will request access to your Instagram friend list during setup in order to make communication easier. If you give the app this permission, it will recommend the Instagram individuals you engage with most regularly, guaranteeing a smooth integration with your current contacts.
The app will sync your Instagram friends list with any friends you add there. Notably, Threads also offers a unique experience and runs separately from Instagram Direct or the Messenger app.
The app will function much like Twitter in that users may upload their thoughts for the world to see, and then others can reshare, like, and comment on them.
Where to get it?
As of right now, Threads is only available on the App Store; we were unable to locate it on the Google Play Store or its APK file. Yet over the weekend, the app had a brief appearance on the Play Store before being removed after a few hours.
The application was once known as Project 92 and has apparently been in development since January of this year.
