The Twitter account of American musician Kanye West, now known as Ye, was suspended on Friday, December 2. Know what is a hakenkreuz and its difference vs a swastika
A few hours after he tweeted a picture of the Hakenkreuz and the Star of David entwined as a symbol for his presidential campaign.
What Is Hakenkreuz, Meaning, Origin, Story, Images And Difference vs Swastika
The Hakenkreuz, often known as the Nazi Swastika, is regarded as a sign of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party. Whereas The Star of David is a recognised emblem for Judaism. Hours before his account was terminated for uploading the anti-Semitic image, West erased the message. Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, announced that Ye’s account has been suspended for inciting violence.
The Hakenkreuz Described
The Swastika, a long-used cultural and religious symbol, was adopted by Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party in post-World War I Germany. Several modifications were performed before the sign was formally adopted as the Nazi symbol in 1920. The Hakenkreuz, or Hooked Cross, came to be the name given to it. The symbol was printed on the party’s flag, emblem, and supporters’ armbands.
Adolf Hitler described how the emblem ultimately came to be used in Mein Kampf, writing. He said, “I myself, in the meantime, after countless efforts, had set down a final form. A flag with a red background, a white disc, and a black hooked cross in the middle.”
He further continued saying, “I also discovered a clear ratio between the size of the flag and the size of the white disc, along with the form and thickness of the hooked cross, after much testing.”
What Distinguishes The Hakenkreuz From The Swastika?
The Nazi crest, known as the Hakenkreuz, was a black swastika that had been rotated 45 degrees and placed on a white circle with a red background. Many people have argued that the swastika is different from the Nazi emblem.
Religious organisations including Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains proposed the name “Hakenkreuz” for the Nazi symbol because the Swastika is revered in these religions. The Nazi Swastika is another name for the symbol, which is used to distinguish it from the religious emblem.
A discussion erupted on the Musk-owned platform following rapper Kanye West’s tweet, with some claiming the symbol was the Swastika and others correcting them and pointing out the differences between the two signs.
