What Happens If WTC Final Is A Draw?
India and New Zealand fans were eagerly waiting for the ICC to announce the “Playing Conditions” for the WTC Final. ICC finally announced it. Some of the rules were tweaked for the WTC final and few other things were announced as well.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that if the World Test Championship Final 2021 ends in a draw or a tie then both teams will be declared as the “Joint Winners”. The 23rd of June is the “Reserve Day” to ensure a result in case if there is any loss in playtime due to inclement weather or any other reason.
It was pre-decided that the two teams will be “joint champions” if it ends in a tie or a draw. Although the playing conditions allow for a reserve day, it can only be used if the net playing time is lost during the scheduled five days of the final.
So ICC sticks to its main rules which were made before this pandemic. Both teams sharing the trophy if the WTC final results in a draw or a tie.
WTC Final Playing Conditions
The match referee will update both the teams on how the reserve day will be used if there is a loss in time in the five days of the test. The decision of whether or not to use the reserve day will be taken at the start of the last hour of day 5.
The neutral conditions, duke ball, and English weather will help in getting a result. Both teams have quality players and it promises to be a great contest.
