2024 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show schedule, date, venue, events list, & format
In 2024, this event will feature almost 2500 dogs from about 200 various breeds, all bent on winning the top prizes in seven categories. Additionally, one dog will win the honorable title of Best in Show. Notably, the competition will start with the Masters Obedience Championship and the Masters Agility Championship on Saturday, and the main event will be on Monday.
The Westminster Dog Show boasts seven distinct breed categories: Herding, Hound, Non-sporting, Sporting, Terrier, Toy, and Working. Each canine undergoes a personalized assessment based on standards set by their respective parent clubs, which detail unique characteristics. Once categorized, the dogs compete within their groups, all vying for the coveted Best in Show title.
In 2023, Hound Group member Buddy Holly clinched the 147th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. This year, the esteemed event makes a comeback to the renowned USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. The pinnacle of achievement, the Best in Show award, will once more adorn the esteemed court of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
