West Indies vs Pakistan T20I Series Reduced To Four Games Owing To COVID, Know The Updated Schedule

CWI along with PCB have approved a revamped schedule for the forthcoming West Indies vs Pakistan T20 series owing to COVID

On Sunday, Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed the amended itinerary for the forthcoming T20I series with Pakistan. West Indies and Pakistan were originally scheduled to play five T20Is, however, COVID-19 difficulties prompted the CWI to shorten the schedule to four matches.

After a West Indies’ non-playing staff tested positive for COVID-19 two days earlier, forcing CWI and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to postpone the scheduled dates of the tour of Pakistan. 

CWI and PCB consented to undertake a revamped four-match T20I series, beginning from Wednesday 28 July. which would be preceded by a two-match test series as part of the 2021-23 World Test Championship. The schedule for the Test series remains the same as it was previously.

“We studied different options with the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board), and we unanimously concluded that the best answer under the current circumstances is to cancel the first T20I and play a four-match T20I series beginning on Wednesday while keeping the rest of the tour schedule unchanged.”

He also mentioned that both the teams are on an outrageous roll for the preparation of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 held in UAE as this series will be a definite entertainer. West Indies will take on Pakistan for two Test matches in Jamaica.

July 27: Guyana National Stadium host the 1st T20 Cup match at 10 a.m. local time (9 am Jamaica)

July 31: Guyana National Stadium hosts the 2nd T20 Cup match at 11 a.m. local time (10 am Jamaica)

August 1: Guyana National Stadium hosts the  3rd T20 Cup match at 11 a.m. local time (10 am Jamaica)

August 3: Guyana National Stadium hosts the  4th  T20 Cup match at 11 a.m. local time (10 am Jamaica)

August 12-16: Sabina Park hosts the first Betway Test at 10 a.m. Jamaica time (11 am Eastern Caribbean)

West Indies vs Pakistan 2021: Previous Series Performance of Both The Teams

Overall both the teams are on roll to accelerate their squad and improve the finest mistakes as well. Pakistan coming from a big defeat in the hands of England will be prone to learn and attack fatally against the brutal west Indies. 

Whereas West Indies easily clinched the T20is series with a 3-1 lead, furthermore the ODIs series saw many obstacles in the conduction of the game such as the one of the staff was tested covid positive.

As per records, only one game was successfully played and the remaining two were abandoned. West Indies will likely improvise on their faulty mistakes against Australia and gear up to face some pacey Pakistanis in the upcoming mid-week.
