2023 Welsh Open snooker Robert Milkins vs Shaun Murphy final match events, score, & summary
After the players finished the afternoon session at 4-4 tie, Milkins won the opening frame of the evening session thanks to his break of 55. Murphy then tied the score with a run of 70 but during crunch moments of frame eleven, Murphy flubbed a difficult pot to the baulk corner, giving his rival the chance to regain the lead. Taking advantage of his momentum, Milkins raced to a lead of 7-5 owing to his break of 60 in the 12th frame.
Although Murphy reduced the deficit to 7-6 after his 64 break in the 13th frame, Milkins made a 64 break of his own to make it 8-6. In the 15th frame, Murphy made his highest break of the match and looked set to gain the upper hand. However, a string of misses from Murphy allowed Milkins to bag the 16th frame, which helped him bag the prestigious title alongside £150,000 bonus as the BetVictor Series winner.
