It is the Welsh Open’s 12th ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season, and the 31st since its inception in 1992.
Jordan Brown was the defending champion, having defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan 9–8 in the final of the 2021 Welsh Open Snooker. However, he suffered an early loss at the qualifiers against Mitchell Mann. Brown lost the match 3-4 against Mann.
Welsh Open Snooker 2022 Tournament Schedule Dates, Tickets And Venue
The event is being held at Celtic Manor Resort in Newport. The final is slated for Sunday, March 6th. The tournament qualifying rounds continued from 15th February to 20th February. Tickets for the fixtures can be bought here.
On the first day, all qualifying matches came to a close as Round of 64 players were confirmed.
Tournament Format And Rules
Up until the quarter-final stage, all games will be best of seven frames. The quarterfinals are best of nine frames.
The semi-finals are best of eleven frames, and the final will be best of seventeen frames.
Welsh Open Day 1 Snooker 2022 Results
On the first day of Welsh Open, remaining qualifiers matches took place. Reigning Champion Jordan Brown bowed out of the tournament after a shock loss in the qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Michael White played his Round of 64 match as well and defeated Allan Taylor 4-3. He will play the winner of Liam Highfield and Mark Selby match in the round of 32.

The tournament winner will receive £70,000 in prize money, while the losing finalist will receive 30,000 Pounds. The net prize pool of the tournament is set to be 4,05,000 Pounds.
