Jordan Brown was the defending champion, having defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan 9–8 in the 2021 Welsh Open Snooker final. However, he suffered an early loss at the qualifiers against Mitchell Mann. Brown lost the match 3-4 against Mann.

On March 5, all Welsh Open Snooker semi-final matches were settled with all eyes on Judd Trump vs. Hossein Vafaei. The tournament favorite Judd Trump continued to march forward with a win, albeit nail-biting.

Tournament Format And Rules
Up until the quarter-final stage, all games were best of seven frames. The quarterfinals featured a best of nine frames.
The semi-finals were best of eleven frames, and the final will be best of seventeen frames. Tatiana Woollaston will be the referee of the match.
Welsh Open Snooker 2022 5th March Results Semi-Final
The best of 11 frames semi-finals of Welsh Open Snooker were held on March 5th. In the afternoon session, Trump faced Vafaei, while in the evening session, Perry faced Lisowski.
Vafaei got out to a strong start, leading 3–1, but Trump took the fifth and then the sixth on the black to tie the game at 3–3. Vafaei had a two-frame lead at 5–3, but Trump rallied to force a decisive frame, which he won to reach his first ranking final of the season and his second Welsh Open final of his career.
Both players had chances, but Perry won frame and match after winning a crucial safety struggle. It was Perry’s 16th win in a final-frame decider at the Welsh Open, which is more than any other player in the event’s history. This also allowed Perry to qualify for his sixth ranking final.
