It is the Welsh Open’s 12th ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season, and the 31st since its inception in 1992.
Jordan Brown was the defending champion, having defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan 9–8 in the final of the 2021 Welsh Open Snooker. However, he suffered an early loss at the qualifiers against Mitchell Mann. Brown lost the match 3-4 against Mann.
Welsh Open Snooker 2022 Tournament Schedule, Dates, Time, Tickets And Venue
The event is being held at Celtic Manor Resort in Newport. The final is slated for Sunday, March 6th. The tournament qualifying rounds continued from 15th February to 20th February. Tickets for the fixtures can be bought here.
On the third day, majority of Round of 32 players were settled. Remaining Round of 32 matches are scheduled to be played on 3rd March along with few Round of 16 matches.

Tournament Format And Rules
Up until the quarter-final stage, all games will be best of seven frames. The quarterfinals are best of nine frames.
The semi-finals are best of eleven frames, and the final will be best of seventeen frames.

On Day-3 of Welsh Open, No. 4 in the world Neil Robertson defeated Graeme Dott to reach the tournament’s Round of 32 in Newport.
World No. 3 Ronnie O’Sullivan defeated Lukas Kleckers 4-2, earlier in the day. Meanwhile, Judd Trump defeated Si Jiahui 4-2 in the final.
