And the spinner has been solid since, a player who has rediscovered the myriad guile and trickery which saw him become such a tricky bowler to take on over the years. When he squared up against RCB, Chahal’s wicket to wicket line and length saw snag wickets at regular intervals to keep Rajasthan in the game.
Sending the well set Faf du Plessis back to the hut, Chahal ended up bowling a scorching delivery to David Willey, one which left the batsman flummoxed as it went straight through his gate to bowl him. The delivery was a stunner, one which saw Dhanashree Verma, the wife of Chahal elastically jump up to revel in the celebrations of the ominous wonder delivery her husband had sent down.
Video footage of her celebration has since gone viral with people lauding the enthusiasm and zealousness with which she was throwing her weight behind her husband’s performance on the day. While Chahal kept the scoring tight from one end, RCB managed to power their way to a win on the night with some much needed power hitting from Ahmed and Karthik to see the side record its second win on the bounce.
