With a 2-0 victory over Arsenal, Manchester United maintained their perfect preseason record, but former captain Harry Maguire was verbally attacked by supporters after the game with the video of him being abused viral
On Saturday night, United and Arsenal squared off at the MetLife Stadium as both Premier League heavyweights began a tour of the United States. Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho scored towards the end of the first half in front of a sold-out crowd in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and Arsenal was outmatched as they dropped their first preseason game.
Both teams made numerous substitutions at the beginning of the second half, and Maguire replaced Raphael Varane. While Maguire was beaming and interacting with fans as he exited the pitch, one fan chose to make fun of the defender.

After the Man Utd vs. Arsenal exhibition game in America over the weekend, a video of Harry Maguire being harassed by a fan has surfaced online. The 16-second film was uploaded by @MikeHeywood4 with the description, “‘Harry, you big Mong!'” and since then, it has received over a million Twitter views.
In the viral video, a fan repeatedly called Maguire a “m***,” but to his credit, the England international entirely disregarded the insult and concentrated on mingling with other fans. Maguire exited the pitch and walked into the tunnel without a match shirt, possibly donating it to a supporter as a kind gesture.
But the repulsive behaviour of a fan, who repeatedly called him a “m***,” was caught on camera. Especially after becoming the most expensive defender in sport, Maguire’s tenure at United hasn’t exactly gone according to plan. Maguire showed class by not interacting with the fan or responding to the derogatory statement. Following the game, Maguire thanked the supporters on Instagram.
Maguire is familiar with abuses.
In June 2022, Maguire revealed his miserable season and promised to get better. At both the club and international levels in recent years, the then-Man Utd captain received jeers from supporters of his own team. The defender made it obvious that the bomb threat on his family’s home on April 20, 2022, was out of line.
Maguire declared, “There is a line,” Since he is a family man, it very much impacts him. His mindset is that it doesn’t really bother him, but when it comes to bombing threats, family comes first. Maguire has also challenged the biggest social media companies to take action against individuals who harass football players in general as well as him.
