Wout van Aert, a professional cyclist, was humiliated in the third stage of the Critérium du Dauphine this week due to an untimely celebration.
The 27-year-old Belgian professional road and cyclocross racer established a late lead into the final straight and raced away from the chasing pack, only to celebrate before crossing the finish line.

“It was a rookie error,” Van Aert admitted to Sporza.
“When you rejoice on such a rising finish, you lose a lot of speed.” David Gaudu appeared from the other side in an instant… It’s simply excruciating.
If it’s any consolation, Van Aert reclaimed the yellow jersey he lost on stage two and now leads Gaudu by six seconds.
“Van Aert nowadays in the green jersey, has he redeemed atonement right at the end?” questioned a Eurosport commentator of the blunder.
O’h, did he get it? he said after his gaffe. Gaudu stole it from him! Too much early celebrating, and Gaudu was the one who flung the bike at the finish line. And I suppose, denied Wout van Aert”.
“Oh, and Wout van Aert is attempting to grin here. But David Gaudu is roaring. Never say die on the toss, it was great! Phenomenal.:
Wout van Aert’s green hulking frame had vanished for a brief period. The first three stages of the Dauphiné had appeared to be little more than a procession towards a Van Aert win. However, after a lackluster chase on stage two, the Belgian was suddenly gone with a few kilometers to go.
