Following his recent comments on the Capitol Insurgency in January 2021, Jack Del Rio is not a popular figure this week with pictures of him attacking Otis Taylor viral
Because of his remarks, in which he referred to the insurgency as a “dust-up,” social media is now bringing up his fight with Chiefs icon Otis Taylor. The NFL was on strike at the time, and Rio mistook Otis for a replacement player, so he fought him.

The incident occurred on the second day of Chiefs players’ picketing. Taylor, a talent scout for the Kansas City Chiefs at the time, filed an assault charge against Del Rio, alleging in the report that the then-line backer used obscene language, grabbed him around the neck, and they both fell to the ground. According to the account, the two scuffled momentarily, with Taylor receiving a bleeding lip.
Taylor had been retired from sports for at least 12 years before the incident and was a former All-Pro and 11-year Chiefs wide receiver.
The lockout was expected to last three games into the season. Del Rio spent that season and the following in Kansas City before joining the Cowboys in 1989.
The Chiefs’ replacement players went 0-3 in their games with the team. The team concluded the season with a 4-11 record. Taylor would sue Del Rio, and the two would reach an out-of-court settlement.
Commanders Issue Ridiculous Statements After Jack Del Rio Is Fined $100,000 For Comments On Jan 6 And Floyd Riots.
The Washington Commanders said today that Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio would be fined $100,000 for equating the events of January 6th to the violence that occurred after the death of George Floyd in May 2020, in an embarrassing moment for the NFL.
NFL writers were quick to celebrate the announcement, eager to be the first to publicly declare their devotion to the “proper” set of viewpoints:
Rapaport exemplifies a crucial function of modern activism disguised as reporting: rather than expressing scepticism or scrutiny, sports writers approach each topic with the implicit premise that their viewpoints are the only set of beliefs that are acceptable.
Del Rio’s remarks are “troubling” and “wrong,” so he deserves this “major” retaliation.
