Diego Simeone once slammed Pep Guardiola while cheering his own “filthy” double nutmeg. The 51-year-old manager of Atletico Madrid, a former player for Los Rajablancos, accomplished this accomplishment against Barcelona in the 1990s.

Simeone embarrassed Guardiola’s teammate Jose Mari Bakero by pulling off a stunning double nutmeg before stopping to applaud himself. Simeone had just skinned the current Manchester City manager with a deft pivot. The ball was then blasted to the near touchline by the tenacious central midfielder as Atleti was engaged in a risky attempt down the right.
This video went viral when Simeone was trying to do better against the Manchester manager when the Argentinean welcomeed Manchester City to the Wanda Metropolitano in the Champions League.
The viral video had caused social media to go into madness. “Never previously seen this. After the nutmeg, there comes a high-end s***house clap,” one fan said.
A third fan joked, “The Argentine Vinny Jones ending careers.”
Additionally, Simeone didn’t only defeat Guardiola in this one situation.
During their playing careers, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona frequently faced off in title battles. La Blaugrana lost to Atletico Madrid 3-1 on two occasions in La Liga during the 1995–96 season. The Madrid-based team went on to complete a domestic hat trick by defeating Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey championship with a goal from Milinko Pantic in extra time. And as managers, their heated competition has persisted, with Simeone maintaining a little advantage.
Simeone’s Atletico Madrid lost 2-1 against Lionel Messi’s Barcelona at the tail end of the 2011–12 season in their only La Liga encounter. But four years later, Atleti came back to the Champions League and defeated Bayern Munich under Guardiola in the semi-final stage thanks to the away goals rule.
