On May 1, the 43rd match of the IPL 2023 took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Earlier, after Krunal’s departure, Kohli gave a kiss and motioned for silence.

After winning the toss, RCB scored 126/9 in 20 overs on a slow pitch, with Faf du Plessis leading the way with 44 and Virat Kohli contributing 31 and 62 runs of partnership for the first wicket. Naveen Ul Haq grabbed three wickets for LSG, while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra each took two.

In response, RCB bowlers made life more challenging for LSG batters, particularly after an injured KL Rahul delayed starting his innings till the ninth wicket fell. LSG only managed 108 runs in 19.5 overs, with K Gowtham scoring the most runs with 23, and Amit Mishra scoring 19 runs. Josh Hazlewood and Karn Sharma each took two wickets for the RCB.

Virat and Gambhir were highly animated during post match.

Virat Kohli, who was a livewire when RCB bowled, was the focus of the game more so than anything else. He made two catches, following which he gave the fans two kisses and motioned for everyone to remain quiet.

Numerous people believed that this was in response to Gautam Gambhir acting similarly after LSG had defeated RCB in Bengaluru during their previous IPL 2023 meeting. Afghanistan’s Naveen Ul Haq stopped the former RCB captain Virat Kohli for a few words as the two sides prepared to shake hands.
