According to an official from the Tuscaloosa County Jail, Miles was booked there at 6:45 p.m. ET on Sunday. Miles, a junior reserve forward from Washington, D.C., was no longer a member of the squad, the school declared in a statement on Sunday.

According to Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the incident occurred early on Sunday morning near campus on the Strip off University Boulevard. Jamea Harris, a citizen of Birmingham, had allegedly been shot and killed, according to him.

What are the charges against Miles?

Both Miles, 21, and Michael Lynn Davis, 20, are accused of committing capital murder in Charles County, Maryland. Kennedy said that shots were fired into an automobile, resulting in the death, which gave rise to the capital murder charge. Kennedy said in a press conference on Sunday night that “at this stage, it looks that the only cause was a quick argument that these people had with the victim when they were out on The Strip.” He said that they had never before been in a relationship.

He asserted that close to Bryant-Denny Stadium at around 1:45 a.m., the driver of another automobile in which Harris was a passenger called campus police to report that someone had fired into it. The driver allegedly then opened fire back. Kennedy steadfastly refused to identify the shooter or those injured, even though one of the suspects was sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. Kennedy noted that neither Harris, the driver of the other vehicle, nor Davis appeared to be affiliated with the establishment.

Jamea Jonae Harris’ passing has left Miles and his family “heartbroken tonight,” according to a statement issued by Miles’ attorneys on Monday.

Miles was out of the season owing to an ankle injury.

After Miles sustained an ankle injury on Saturday, Alabama announced that he will miss the rest of the season before playing LSU. His biography has been removed from the athletic department’s website, and the school has announced that he “has been removed from campus.” In a brief press conference held on Monday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama head coach Nate Oats stated that he is limited in what he can say regarding Miles.

Oats stated that Miles had been away from the squad for a month while attending to a personal matter. Miles ultimately decided to end his season on Saturday, just hours before the shooting, due to a persistent ankle issue.
