Premier League referee David Coote is embroiled in another scandal following a video of him snorting white powder, just days after the PGMOL suspended him for another incriminating video.

Following the incident, the UEFA has removed Coote from their list of officials for any upcoming international fixtures.

Video of David Coote snorting white powder goes viral

A viral video of David Coote snorting white powder alleged to be coke/cocaine has recently gone viral causing all kinds of further backlash. The eight second WhatsApp video shows the Premier League referee wide-eyed and using a rolled-up US bank note to snort a four-inch line of cocaine. The video was reportedly taken when he was serving as an official at 2024 Euros.

According to reports, the video was taken on July 6, just one day after the Euro 2024 quarter final clash between France and Portugal. The video further shows scattered packets of prescription drugs, a credit card, and the Terry Hayes novel on the bedside table alongside the white powder.

Coote reportedly sent the clip to a pal and reports indicate that he filmed it himself in a UEFA -funded hotel room during the tournament. Alongside the video, the referee also sent another photo from Frankfurt on July 1. The photo showed his credit cards on a saucer, on either side of six chopped-up lines of suspicious white powder.

David Coote PGMOL suspension

Just a few days earlier, the PGOL suspended David Coote over a video of him calling former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a “German c**t”. The video was reportedly taken during the Covid-19 pandemic. The PGMOL alongside the FA are currently conducting an investigation over the issue. According to reports, Coote could face charges of following an aggravated breach of FA rules. This is because he mentioned Klopp’s nationality in the leaked video.

Alongside the video, Coote also sent other videos from the three matches he officiated at the Paris Olympics. According to his pal, who received the videos, Coote also stated in video chats that Liverpool “will not win the Premier League” this season. Moreover, Coote also stated that Goodison Park, Everton’s home turf was the worst place to referee. He stated how he hated the fans “shouting abuse so close to the pitch”.

David Coote also mentioned to his pal that he hates officiating at Bournemouth games because it’s “too far away”. He also moaned that he was “too big” to serve as a ref at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena. The pal further highlighted that Coote bragged of taking drugs repeatedly during tournaments and major Prem matches. He added:

I believe that the FA and the governing body of the referees have to make sure that the sport we all love is protected and being officiated by the right people. My message to David Coote is…there’s help out there.”

Meanwhile, a PGMOL spokesperson stated:

We aware of the allegations and are taking them very seriously. David Coote remains suspended pending a full investigation.

David’s welfare continues to be of utmost importance to us and we are committed to providing him with the ongoing necessary support he needs through this period. We are not in a position to comment further at this stage.”
